New Year, New Position!

New Year, New Position!

This year Phillips Middle will lose their 8th grade science teacher and gain a new Instructional Coach.  That’s right.  Angela Tyler-Lloyd, a well decorated 8th grade science teacher, has accepted the new position of instructional coach and will be assigned to Phillips Middle School.  Mrs. Lloyd has over 16 years of experience in education, and despite being dual certified in Science and Social Studies, has taught science, social studies, ELA as well as math.

Mrs. Lloyd recognized there was a tremendous amount of pressure on improving the quality of instruction and accountability which has directly impacted student achievement.  Realizing the need for support and having knowledge of the best research based practices, Mrs. Lloyd felt it was necessary to take the next step and become the instructional coach position this school needs.  This role will allow her to focus on the right teaching methods and build strong relationships teachers need to grow professionally.

With teachers having access to onsite support, Mrs. Lloyd sees big changes for Phillips Middle this year.  Lloyd says, “Our approach to teaching will be more strategic and intentional with the best teaching practices being used in all classrooms which will directly impact student achievement in a positive way.”
